Pills, Tablets, and Gelcaps Status: Pill medications that one swallows are permitted even if they contain non-kosher ingredients, and therefore most pills are not listed on this site. Two exceptions to that rule are: (1) vitamins, which generally require certification, and (2) gelcaps, hard or soft, which should only be taken by someone who is ill and does not have a kosher alternative. This site lists recommendations for many liquid and chewable medications, and details on those can be found by searching for the name of the medicine (e.g. Alavert, Delsym).
